new career

I quit my job. Ok, not physically but mentally. Mind mind and heart are not in it anymore. It's time for a change.

This is a first for me though, I'm picking a career instead of the career picking me. Don't get me wrong I've quit plenty of jobs before, even started a 2nd career. It's just that I have a habit of going with the flow. Which basically means I happen into a job and turn it into a career. So far it's worked out fine. I've made decent money and learned some valuable skills.

But I guess like most people, I'm looking for somehting a little more fulfilling. Like what I'm doing should mean something. I guess that comes with age. All this stuff about how will people remember you or have you ever done anything special in your life?

I hate to say but my list wouldn't be very long.
If all goes well, I'll have a new career in about 3 years. Classes start Monday. They say with age comes wisdom...I hope that means I'm not to old to learn.

Gametime

Well, the boys have been at tailgate for about 3 hours now. We were upstaged this year. Someone actually beat us into the parking lot. No worries, I'm sure by now the burgers are onthe grill and there have been several beverages served. There's a different feel in the air today. First home game of the season. See you there.

ready to vote

Well, I missed the big speech last night but curiosity got the best of me (not to mention the rave reviews, I do love my celebrity gossip...and yes she is now considered a celebrity) so I watched Sarah Palin's speech this morning.

My voter card says republican, I support John McCain, but I have to admit by this time in the political race I generally lose interest. Watching Obama at every turn with his celebrity support and charisma actually made me consider not even bother to vote.

Well, I will definately vote now. What a great speech. She's strong, she's a mom and she has a career. I know this describes women everywhere, which I guess is my point. Of course people could say the same about Hillary, but I have a hard time getting my head around a candidate who is referred to by her first name only. Besides I like Sarah Palin. I feel like she actually cares more about her country (ie, me) than her career.

I guess the best part of having a running mate like Sarah Palin is that even though I support John McCain, I have to admit I don't listen to him as much as I should. I tend to lose interest in politics easily. One 36 minute speech just made a 70 year old candidate relatable to me and my life. I appreciate that. Good choice Senator McCain. I might even listen to your speech.

What day is it?

Is it Monday? I know, I know it's already Tuesday. I should feel happy that the week is already part way over. Maybe it's the fact that I woke up at 5:30, my mind already going through my day. On a good note, it's starting to get light and the fog looks awesome over the mountains. It could be the fact that the coffee pot exploded. At least half the pot was salvagable. Do I sound like little miss sunshine? I'm trying to look at the bright side. Actually, I'm sure it's the fact that it's Tuesday, the dreaded drive to Black Mountain. Ok so the drive is nice, it just means I still have to go there, which means I still have a job there, which means I'm not up here where I want to be. Patience is a virtue...Good things come to those who wait...Every cloud has a silver lining... I'm trying.

On the other hand...my brother lives halfway between Slidell and Gulfport Mississippi. Maybe I should think about him instead of myself.

ready for tailgait

Even at home my mind is on permanent vacation. Hope all you App fans got back safely ahead of Gustav. I was there in spirit but watching from home. So far it looks like an interesting start to tailgait season...Game 1: moved up 6 hours due to the threat of a hurricane. Doesn't allow much time for tailgaiting. Game 2: should be a wet one, if the predictions of Hurricane Hanna are correct. I don't think I saw this much action in 10 years in the Outer Banks. Oh by the way did I mention Ike?
